Kia ora.
Welcome to my first ever blog post, i thought the best way to start this would be to introduce myself, and give you an insight into the mind of this kiwi artist.
I am an artist in my early 20s, living in the Top of the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand, having lived across the country through out my childhood, I would always call Te Tau Ihu (Top of the South) home.
As an artist i have been creating since childhood with a large focus during high school, though as many creative do, I fell out of the routine of creating for a few years as I settled into study and work. In 2020 with the completion of my first diploma, and peak covid lockdowns I began creating once again. Since 2020 I have grown my art, began selling my originals and in 2022 began hosting Paint & Sip Events, which we will get to later on.
While i do not have a single style of art, as i am still exploring, my art definitely is focused in the mediums of acrylic painting and embroidery on stretched canvas. I will jump from landscapes, abstracts and back to native flora and fauna very regularly based on my inspiration at the time. Currently in 2023 i am studying art and creativity full time and taking this opportunity to explore larger and longer projects in very different styles which so far have included embroidery of native birds or paint carving or flowers and more. I have a large range of artworks available for all budgets, and am open for commissions.
I began Paint & Sip with Sam in September 2022, to bring another social yet creative activity to the region, this has taken off with great support from the local community, both for my public events, as well as private events in which work groups, friends and family book out a session for themselves which is always great fun. Paint & Sips are a great social way to explore your creativity with out the commitment of starting the hobby on your own.
My aim as a artist is to one day become full time, with a dedicated art space to share art works and the process of creating with others, and hopefully with your support i will one day get there.
Thanks for exploring my art, and taking the time to learn about me.
If you wish to support the art process or watch the process live you can head over to my Patreon or Twitch where i live stream the art process.
Have a great day!
Sam
